January 5, 2008

Asiya's Shadows has been online for over six years, and there have been many innovations and standards developed in HTML and CSS in those years. So, since November, I have been cleaning up the design and layout of the site to bring it more up-to-date and make the pages faster to load. Hope you like it!

November 5, 2007

You may see double menu navigational bars over the next day. My apologies for the inconvenience; I'm upgrading this site from frames to a CSS fixed menu and have to tweak the settings on each page individually.

October 21, 2007

Asiya's Magick Shop is now open. These products are made by a local (Austin) witch who owns a shop called the Natural Magick Shop.

I'm finally on MySpace! Check out my profile and add me as a friend!

October 8, 2007

I've created a new message board for discussion of all things Pagan, magickal, and occult. Check it out!

September 19, 2006

I've made a decision to not continue with the Asiya's ShadowCast podcast. With my other online projects, my job, and having a personal life, there's too much on my plate at this time to give the podcast the proper attention it deserves. And I enjoy answering people's questions, but don't particularly enjoy answering them in that medium. I tried my hand at podcasting, and learned that being a podcaster is not for me.

The episodes, along with the show notes, will remain at http://podcast.asiya.org, so people will still be able to listen to them. And of course this website in general is still available. In fact I plan to expand Asiya's Shadows in the coming months, so be on the lookout for those updates. Thanks for listening to the podcast.

To listen to an audio version of this message, go to http://podcast.asiya.org or the iTunes Asiya's ShadowCast page.

September 6, 2006

Episode #2 of Asiya's ShadowCast is now available. Subscribe in iTunes, or listen to or download the episode at Asiya's ShadowCast main page. In this episode: Solitary Sabbat celebrations; Pronunciation of the Hebrew words in the LBRP; Magickal names and magickal mottos; Nikkal, a Canaanite goddess

Asiya's ShadowCast is a podcast on Wicca, magick, and the occult, featuring listener questions. Email questions that you would like to have answered on the program to podcast@asiya.org. The questions can be about anything related to Wicca, Paganism, magick, the occult, the Pagan and magickal community, things written on my website, etc. New episodes will come out every two weeks.

August 24, 2006

As of today, Asiya's Shadows has been online for five years. Thanks very much for being a part of it! To celebrate this anniversary, all Tarot readings are 10% off from August 24 - August 31. Go to Tarot Readings by Asiya to see the choice of spreads and to order.

August 21, 2006

Episode #1 of Asiya's ShadowCast is now available. Listen to or download the episode at Asiya's ShadowCast main page. In this episode: Introduction of the podcast and Asiya; What does the word "Pagan" mean in a modern context?; How do I find my element?; What's the difference between the right-hand path and left-hand path?

Asiya's ShadowCast is a podcast on Wicca, magick, and the occult, featuring listener questions. Email questions that you would like to have answered on the program to podcast@asiya.org. The questions can be about anything related to Wicca, Paganism, magick, the occult, the Pagan and magickal community, things written on my website, etc. New episodes will come out every two weeks.

I hope you enjoy the show!

July 29, 2006

I am creating a new podcast program about Wicca and magick. It is tentatively called Asiya's ShadowCast and will feature reader (and listener) questions. As such it is interactive and needs your input! This podcast is designed for you. Please email questions that you would like to have answered on the program to podcast@asiya.org. The questions can be about anything related to Wicca, Paganism, magick, the occult, the Pagan and magickal community, things written on my website, etc. The podcast will have new episodes every two weeks.

To be automatically notified when the podcast is launched, subscribe to the Asiya's Shadows mailing list. The podcast will be available on the Asiya's ShadowCast page as well as at iTunes.

What is a podcast you say? It is an audio program (similar to a radio show) that is downloadable from the internet, so that you can listen to it anytime you want on your computer or on an mp3 player.

January 31, 2006

Special thanks to Frater S.P. for typing up and creating a PDF of The Eighth Book of Moses, a Greco-Egyptian grimoire, available for download at the Magickal Athenaeum.

November 5, 2005

Eight PDFs added to the Magickal Athenaeum - Dr. Georg Lomer's 'Seven Hermetic Letters' and four of John Dee's (all in Hermetics section), A.E. Waite's 'The Book of the Secret Word' and 'The Great Symbols of the Tarot' (in Tarot section), and Phil Hine's 'Aspects of Tantra' (in Chaos section).

September 4, 2005

Two PDFs added to the Magickal Athenaeum - Frater Achad's 'The Anatomy of the Body of God' in the Thelema section, 'The Sword of Moses' in the Grimoires & Classics section.
The PDF titled 'Liber I - Liber B vel Magi - Notated by Aleister Crowley' wasn't linked to properly, it only pulled up the standard PDF. That's been fixed now, so the notated PDF is there.

Updated About Asiya. Updated the intro, it was extremely outdated from over two years ago.

Became ringmistress of two webrings, Babylon's Realm and Mystical Jewelry Webring. Check them out!

February 5, 2005

Ten more PDFs in the Magickal Athenaeum, all in the Chaos Magick section.

December 27, 2004

December 3, 2004

Updated the Recommended Sites section with twelve new sites...reluctantly removed six sites that have disappeared.

December 2, 2004

Added 11 more PDFs to the Magickal Athenaeum. So now it's jumped from 227 files to 265. That will probably be it for the Athenaeum for a while, till I make more PDFs.

December 1, 2004

Added 27 PDFs to the Magickal Athenaeum.

October 30, 2004

Nothing major, have just made little improvements here and there to the site, cleaning it up, putting finishing touches to some pages.

Shortened up the lists of Search Keywords Used Within Asiya's Shadows and Search Keywords Used to Arrive at Asiya's Shadows down to the more unusual or interesting phrases, added more recent ones.

Added a pic of me to the Fluff section.

October 24, 2004

October 4, 2004

Another question & answer added to Asiya's FAQ: How do I find a Pagan/magick/occult shop in my local area?

September 23, 2004

Distorted Asiya face added in the Fluff corner of these here parts.

September 14, 2004

Just popped my blog cherry! My new blog doesn't have a particular theme to it at this time, it's just space for me to write about whatever I'm thinking about that day. Sometimes the entries will have magickal content, sometimes won't.

A spiced up Orphic Egg and the Tree of Life in the King Scale, two new drawings in the Fluff section.

September 7, 2004

The Magickal Athenaeum is now open. Tons of PDF files of magickal books, from Hermetics to chaos magick to Paganism. It will have 230 files when completed in a few days, currently 127 are available. Enjoy!

Received the Diamond Web Award Level 2 on August 2, for reaching 500 votes. Keep voting for my site!

All the banners now at the Link to Asiya page are new.

August 1, 2004

Created three new banners, to use if you would like to link to Asiya's Shadows. Removed two of the older banners. You can view 'em at the Link to Asiya page.

Received the Rose Silver Award. View the award on the Awards page.

July 24, 2004

Archived the latest guestbook entries, messages 188 - 246. You can view them here.

I had forgotten to mention back on June 7, I adopted a webring called Cyber Magick. It's for sites dealing with the "darker" side of magick and the occult, and the less mainstream.

Also on June 11, I became the owner of the Pagan Poetry Webring. This webring is for sites with poems, rituals, songs etc. that are of a Pagan religious and/or magickal nature.

July 10, 2004

Received the Pegasus Award of Excellence from Lady Lupin. View the award on the Awards page.

July 7, 2004

Oooookay. Had one hell of a time in June. Changed the web hosting company and domain registrar; due to the extreme incompetence of Yahoo (the former web host and domain reseller), the site was down for almost a month. But it's now all resolved fortunately so there should be no more interruption.

May 23, 2004

In a goofy mood...A Satire of Satanist Websites now up in Asiya's Corner of Fluff.

May 19, 2004

I am now offering Tarot readings. Go to Tarot Readings by Asiya for details. To kick it off, there is a one week special: Two Tarot readings for the price of one!

May 18, 2004

The Allegorical Armory now available. It is a collection of all the existing Tarot content on this site under one easy-to-find section, plus will house future Tarot articles. New to this site today in the Tarot section is "Tarot and the Four Elements", just some handy reference charts I slapped together.

May 9, 2004

The Book of Lies, in PDF format, is now in the Thelema section.
Dec 2004 - The HTML versions of Thelemic libri have been removed from this site, replaced by PDFs at the Magickal Athenaeum.

May 5, 2004

Added Search Keywords Used to Arrive at Asiya's Shadows and Search Keywords Used Within Asiya's Shadows.

May 3, 2004

Redesigned the front "doorway" page of this site. The new style is more in keeping with the rest of the site's design: clean, simple, sleek. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out here.

Enyo of WarGoddess.net and the now-defunct Paganetwork.net reviewed Asiya's Shadows, giving it a 9 out of 10. Check out the detailed review.

May 1, 2004

Added two Thelemic libri: Liber Tzaddi vel Hamus Hermeticus, and De Lege Libellum, also known as The Law of Liberty, Love, Life, and Light. Both elaborate on the nature of the Law of Thelema and the benefits to its adherents.
Dec 2004 - The HTML versions of Thelemic libri have been removed from this site, replaced by PDFs at the Magickal Athenaeum.

Received Witch's Brew "Purple Rose Award for Goddess Dedication" - according to their site this award is given to sites that are "Dedicated to The Goddess Herself in all her many forms. From Morgan to Hecate to Litith to Artemis, You can find expressions from the Heart and Self with each click...". View the award on the Awards page.

March 18, 2004

Why the Name Asiya? now up in Asiya's Corner of Fluff.

Added Liber 84 vel Avalanche, a message from Frater P., which Asiya supports whole-heartedly.

March 12, 2004

One part of a real live magickal operation: Asiya's Corner of Fluff is a section I just decided to add today. No really, there's no reason to read it. It's all about me, me, me.

March 8, 2004

Pagan Tea House is a webring I adopted, and in keeping with the original spirit of the ring, it is for all interesting websites crafted by Pagans. There must be at least one page about Paganism or magick, but the rest of the site can be about anything under the sun. It's a chatty, cozy, friendly place (guess I was in a weird mood when I adopted it).

To see a list of the webrings I manage (seven currently), visit the new Ringmistress page. Ringmistress page merged into the Webrings page as of January 2008.

Switched this site's search engine from FreeFind to Atomz. This eliminates the ads on the search results pages, plus the Atomz features are more advanced and allow for greater customization.

On March 3, this site won DreamWeaver's Gold Award, which you can view on the Awards page.

March 1, 2004

Another new webring! Dragon's Blood is a webring for all occult subjects, from Abramelin magick to Zoroastrianism, and everything in-between. Personal pages, organizations, and commercial sites are all welcome.

The Recommended Sites directory has been updated, fixing many links and removing broken ones. There are also two new sites listed, a website with complete texts of Franz Bardon's books, and the WorldWide Pagan Network.

February 28, 2004

I adopted a webring called Passage of Spirit. Under my new management, this is an interfaith webring welcoming all religious/spiritual websites. Designed to foster religious tolerance, encourage understanding, support diversity, and facilitate dialogue. Surf or join it today!

October 26, 2003

Added a page about Elementals.

There's a new section on Thelema. So far there's just a few libri up, expect more to be added in the future (more libri as well as commentaries).
Dec 2004 - The HTML versions of Thelemic libri have been removed from this site, replaced by PDFs at the Magickal Athenaeum.

October 13, 2003

Added a Religious News page that is updated every 15 minutes.

Removed three broken links from the Recommended Sites directory, fixed one that had moved.

August 17, 2003

No, I haven't forgotten about this site. Been having internet access...issues...and I don't expect it to be resolved till the end of the year. So I'm still around to maintain the site, but there won't be any major revisions or additions till December or January. And then there will be an explosion of activity! Lotsa cool things for asiya.org planned.

New link added to the Recommended Sites directory: Lashtal, a daily news source for those interested in Thelema and Crowley culture. Removed four bad links, and fixed quite a few that had moved.

The webring I manage, Intelligent Magick, now has 30 sites listed. All major magickal traditions are represented, including Wicca, Thelema, Tarot, Golden Dawn, Typhonian, Qabalah, Traditional Witchcraft, and Paganism. Surf the ring to visit many quality magick sites or to add your own site.

Received an award from Fantasy Fights.

This site was reviewed by Shadow Witch Web Review as part of their July 2003 issue. Here is what they had to say about Asiya's Shadows:

"Download Time: A
Graphics: A
Content: A
Overall Appearance: A
Navigability: A
Music: N/A
Accuracy: A
Grammar/Spelling: A
Web Design: A
Organization: A
Originality: B

"This has always been a personal favorite of mine. The design is excellent. The organization is straight-forward and easy to follow. The graphics are minimal and attractive. But, best of all, it's full of really useful information.
"The front page of this site states that elemental information was the original focus of this site. Ironically, this is now the site's weakest area. Other than a few meditations, it offers little information that cannot be found on any number of other sites. The Sabbats and Esbats section offers a good deal of info, including reproductions of Eric Nichols excellent work on each of them. The "Book of Shadows" offers only a couple of items I'd consider spells, although it does include a variety of rituals - circle casting, circle closing, ritual of the pentagram, etc. It also offers a fair amount of commentary, and a sizable collection of correspondences.
"The best part of this site, however, is her Recommended Links. Asiya has collected a tremendous number (245 at present) of truly top-quality sites, many of which I've never run across anywhere else. I return to this site again and again just to nose through her recommended links."

April 8, 2003

Well I'm back from my semi-break from this site, and I'm currently writing a new feature which should be done and uploaded by the end of the week.

Received an award from Dave's World.

March 25, 2003

Received the Bronze award from EsotericLinks.

March 19, 2003

New link added to the Recommended Sites directory: Society for the Academic Study of Magic - in the General Hermetics category, but has some content of interest to Pagans.

March 10, 2003

Archived the latest guestbook entries and switched from Yahoo's guestbook service to Dreambook.com. Unlike Yahoo, Dreambook is fully customizable, and won't cut off guestbook messages. View or sign the new guestbook.

March 5, 2003

Quite a big change today, moved from Geocities to my own domain. Now you only have to type asiya.org instead of the clumsy geocities.com/shadowsofasiya to get here. And no more pop-up ads!

A huge wonderful change is about to take place in my personal life, so I'll be taking a break from adding content to this website for two or three weeks. During this time I'll still maintain the site and the Intelligent Magick webring, and be available for email.

March 2, 2003

Updated the Fire, Water, Air, and Earth correspondences pages with additional correspondences and images of symbols associated with the elements.

Received the Site of Excellence Award from AllWitch.com. You can view it on the Awards page.

The webring I manage, Intelligent Magick, currently has 13 sites listed (besides this one) after being created only a month ago. Surf the ring to visit other quality magick sites or to add your own site, after you've spent time here of course. :)

Today this site reached the 20,000 visitor mark! That's very cool.

February 28, 2003

Through an association with Earth Spirit Emporium, I am now able to offer you a large, unique selection of ritual supplies and magickal products at low prices. Check out the Asiya's Shadows Pagan & Magick Shop. No longer available as of April 2004.

Three new links added to the Recommended Sites directory: Desirée's Musings (Wicca), Yijing Dao (Miscellaneous), Occultopedia (Encyclopedias).

February 2, 2003

I have created a new webring called Intelligent Magick. This webring is for informative, quality sites devoted to any magickal tradition, subject, or practice. At the moment, there are no sites listed since it was created, oh, two hours ago. But I have some sites in mind to invite to join. And, you can add your own site today.

Currently, I am also writing new content for this site, to be added very soon.

January 31, 2003

Added a Link to Asiya's Shadows page, containing instructions on linking to this site, along with some brand spankin' new banners I made.

January 18, 2003

Updated the Recommended Sites page with two new links, and removed a broken link. Chaos Matrix is back online, yay! And I stumbled across a great Wiccan website called Wicca: For the Rest of Us. Go check 'em out.

January 16, 2003

Received three beautiful awards from Little Shy, which you can view on the Awards page.

January 15, 2003

Added a Wheel of the Year Summary to the Sabbats & Esbats section.

January 14, 2003

Added Color Correspondences and Magickal Living to the Book of Shadows section.

January 13 - 18, 2003

Completely re-did the design of this site. As I kept adding new sections, the main page was starting to get a bit unorganized, and one of my main principles with website design is simplicity. So I decided to change this site to navigational frames. It took five days of living hell (and pure fun!) to get it the way it looks now. The "doorway" page, the frames, graphics, fonts, website icon (the brown pentacle on your address bar) are all new. It was difficult, but extremely rewarding. Learned how to do frames and cascading style sheets, and new little "tricks" such as (if you're using Internet Explorer) the scrollbar now matches this website's colors. :) I've been overwhelmed with the incredible amount of positive feedback from visitors; many of you have complimented the new design and new website content, and said it's very easy to navigate, so it's been worth it. And thank you.
